Periods: A Normalization

What does destigmatizing a period mean?

Periods can be taboo.  Let's acknowledge that.  In many places globally, periods just aren't something that's talked about.

This. Is. A. Problem.

Not only does stigma harm those with periods, it also prevents period equity, accessibility, and overall health and understanding of periods.

To destigmatize something, we've got to talk about it.  It's a period.  Here we are, Global Periods, to educate and provide the knowledge and resources that we all need.

Founding of Global Periods

Global Periods was originally founded last year by now-sophomores Nascha Martinez and Lilly Calvert of Washington State.  It started as an idea for CAS (creative, active, service) and it expanded into an organization.  Over time, it was built up to have different branches, run period drives, and more.

The journey that Global Periods has taken is indescribable and complicated, and we can't wait to traverse it with our members.  We are committed to our mission and continually work to improve and change the organization: destigmatizing periods and working on accessibility town by town, state by state, person by person, and country by country.
